Diane Kruger joining Robert Zemeckis’ “The Women of Marwen”

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Diane Kruger has joined the cast of Robert Zemeckis’ “The Women of Marwen”. The film, which also stars Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle Monáe, Eiza González and Falk Hentschel, hits theaters on November 21st, 2018. “The Women of Marwen”, which is written by Zemeckis and Caroline Thompson, is based off the documentary “Marwencol” which “tells the story of a man named Mark Hogancamp [who was] violently assaulted outside of a local bar, and was left with permanent brain damage and almost complete memory loss following a nine-day coma. HIs family was unable to afford the proper rehab, but this opened Hogancamp up to a different kind of therapy: exploration of his imagination. This included the creation of Marwencol, a 1/6 scale World War II-era Belgian town. While this doesn't seem extraordinary by itself, it was soon found that Hogancamp was including people from his own life as characters within the town.” “Carell is the broken man who builds the miniature set.” "Kruger will play Deja Thoris, the Belgin Witch of Marwen who, in a recurring scenario, revives Carell’s alter ego every time he is killed by Nazis."
