Jon Watts return to direct the “Homecoming” sequel?

[WARNING: The following article contains minor spoilers for “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. You have been warned!] While speaking to ScreenCrush, Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed that Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man, exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Morales is referenced in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” when Aaron Davis (aka The Prowler, played by Donald Glover) references his nephew - an easter egg comic book fans will immediately connect to the Spider-Man of Earth-1610. When asked for confirmation of Morales in the MCU, Feige said the following: “All of those little things are just Easter eggs for fans until they’re something more than that. But anything that’s happened in the books is potential material for us. In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony’s making. But where we go ... we definitely want you to go ‘He’s there. He’s there somewhere’.” An Ultimate Spider-Man animated film - which will feature the voice talents of Shameik Moore, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry and Liev Schreiber, is directed by Bob Persichetti and will hit theaters on December 14th, 2018. The Prowler, who Glover plays in “Homecoming”, has been rumored to be in the animated film; which has yet to be confirmed. Recently, the debate over whether or not the Sony/Marvel spinoff films (such as “Venom” and “Silver and Black”) are a part of the MCU has heated up; with producer Amy Pascal confirming they’re not - for now. In related news, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” director Jon Watts hinted that he could be returning for the upcoming sequel, saying: “I don’t like talking about anything until the movie comes out… [But] yeah I think I’m signed for two movies.”
“Spider-Man: Homecoming”, which stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Donald Glover, Bokeem Woodbine, Logan Marshall-Green, Michael Chernus, Hannibal Buress, Laura Harrier, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi, Martin Starr, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, Selenium Leyva, Abraham Attah, Tyne Daly, Tiffany Espensen, Garcelle Beauvais, Angourie Rice, Martha Kelly, Jona Xiao, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Evans and Stan Lee, is directed by Jon Watts and hits theaters on July 7th, 2017.
