Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of Damien Chazelle’s upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic “First Man”

Deadline is reporting that Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of Damien Chazelle’s upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic “First Man”. In related news, The Tracking Board is reporting that Corey Stoll has also joined the film’s cast. “First Man”, which will see Chazelle re-team with his “La La Land” star Ryan Gosling (who plays Armstrong), will hit theaters on October 12th, 2018. The film, which is based on the James Hansen’s book of the same name, is written by Josh Singer and chronicles the first manned mission to the Moon. “First Man” is “described as a visceral, first-person account of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on the years 1961-1969 and Armstrong, the astronaut who became the first man to set foot on the moon. Based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on the nation — of one of the most dangerous missions in history.”
“Chandler will play Deke Slayton, the WWII pilot, aeronautical engineer and test pilot who was selected as one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts, and who became NASA’s first Chief of the Astronaut Office.” Stoll will play Buzz Aldrin, the second man to step on the moon.
