Phil Lord and Chris Miller exiting the Young Han Solo film

BREAKING: Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have exited the currently in-production Young Han Solo film due to "creative differences". In an official statement, LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy said the following: "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon." In a joint statement, Lord and Miller said the movie: “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew". The film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thandie Newton, Ian Kenny and Michael K. Williams, is written by Lawrence and Joe Kasdan and is currently slated for a May 25th, 2018 release (which LucasFilm says will stay the same despite Lord and Miller's departure). Pamela McClintock of The Hollywood Reporter has taken to social media to report that the film has three weeks left of production, with reshoots (no word how extensive they are) scheduled for later this Summer. "The movie will explore the duo [Han and Chewie]’s adventures before the events of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.” What do you think of Phil Lord and Chris Miller exiting the Young Han Solo film?
