“Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland confirmed a longstanding fan theory that Peter Parker is, in fact, in “Iron Man 2”
While speaking to The
Huffington Post, “Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland confirmed a longstanding
fan theory that Peter Parker is, in fact, in “Iron Man 2”! Holland said
the following: “I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a
conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a
big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now. It’s cool. I like the idea
that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.” The
scene in question features “Peter, long before he became Spider-Man,
[who] was present at the Stark Expo wearing an Iron Man helmet. Things
had turned into a panic when it turned out that Justin Hammer’s security
drones had been reprogrammed to destroy everything in sight and target
Iron Man. Mistaking the masked child for the genuine Iron Man, one drone
prepared to attack the kid as he mimicked the Golden Avenger’s repulsor
beam. At this point, Iron Man showed up to blow both the drone and a
young Peter away, quipping ‘Nice work kid!” right before flying off as
the kid has one heck of a story to tell his adoptive parents.’ In
related news, “Homecoming” director Jon Watts also commented on the
confirmation of this fan theory, saying the following: “You make the
joke about that, but basically when I rewatched all the Marvel movies, I
was watching them like that. I was watching all these other movies and
being like, ‘What if that little kid at the Stark Expo was Peter Parker?
In the Iron Man mask.’ Like, he’d be about the right age for that. And
he loves Tony Stark. ‘Oh, what about after the ‘Avengers’ battle, who
would clean that stuff up?’ Because they mention damage control at one
point in the movie. So it’s this thing where, because it’s not
completely figured out, that you can just go back and basically write
fan fiction for those movies, then the fan fiction becomes reality. A
lot of the Easter eggs in this movie just started by rewatching the
movies.”
