John Williams composing “The Papers” and Alan Silvestri composing “Ready Player One”
Variety is reporting that composers John Williams and Alan
Silvestri will score “The Papers” and “Ready Player One” (respectively) -
the latest films from director Steven Spielberg. “The Papers”, which
stars Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross,
Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse
Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach
Woods, is written by Liz Hannah and hits theaters on December 22nd,
2017. “Ready Player One”, which stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben
Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, TJ Miller, Win Morisaki, Philip Zhou, Hannah
John-Kamen and Mark Rylance, is written by Ernest Cline, Zak Penn and
Eric Eason and hits theaters on March 30th, 2018. While “The Papers”
will be the next in Spielberg’s filmography to hit cinemas, “Ready
Player One” was shot before “The Papers” and is still in post-production
due to the films extensive visual effects sequences. Both films will be
in the scoring phase of post at the same time, hence why Williams - who
has composed all of Spielberg’s films excluding three (“The Color
Purple”, “Bridge of Spies” and now “Ready Player One”) will not be
composing both projects. What do you think of John Williams composing
“The Papers” and Alan Silvestri composing “Ready Player One”? Let me
know in the comments!
